Surface action Temensis

Went Toman hunting today without any success.

Luckily, a pair of nice Temensis executed series of spectacular surface attacks more than made up for the snakeheads' absence from active duty.

It's a blast watching the top-water lure got hit with such savage ferocity! I think I'm beginning to like Temensis.....Wakakakakak!!!!!

Spanner Swimbait

Does a lure have to mimic real fish to be effective?

To answer that, I decided to make a swimbait that doesn't resemble a fish or looks delectable.

The outline first traced on PVC foam board and two identical halves cut.

Photobucket

Two halves put together and shaped.

Tank test and weight distribution.

 Photobucket

Refinement and cut into 3 sections.

Gouging out weight and rattle chambers.

Wiring in head section.

Mid-section next.

Finally, the tail section.

The finished product. Decided not to paint the lure to up the challenge.

And......

It works!!!!!

Makeover of a pre-owned Conquest 200

Newly acquired a pre-owned Conquest 200. The reel comes with stock handle, bearing, drag and all the boring stuff.

Photobucket

Going to tune up this mediocre and transform it into a mean big fish conqueror!!

Some ingredients for the project:

First up. Line stripped and spool appeared to be in good form. Applied a thin coat of corrosion prevention oil and checked the axle for rough spots.

All brake blocks will be removed, but will keep the brake ring just in case the transformed fish tamer becomes too hot to handle.

Changed the SVS and cast control bearings to Full Ceramic bearings.

Photobucket

Carbontex drag.

Photobucket

Cleaned up and lubed sparingly. This beauty is all set to conquer!!!!
Will see how the other bearings fare after first sea trial and will change all to stainless steel bearings, if necessary.

Conquest 50 Full Ceramic Bearing upgrade

The previous upgrade of the cast control 7x3x3 bearing to full ceramic is resounding success, and this prompted me to order and replace the SVS and spool bearing to full ceramic as well.

My CQ50 is now perfect, kakakaka~~~
